Oregon Jewish Museum & Center for Holocaust Education

Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education

Client:  Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education  (OJMCHE)

As one of the core exhibits at the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, Discrimination and Resistance, An Oregon Primer documents Oregon’s history of discrimination from its territorial days, into statehood, and into the 20th century. The exhibit similarly chronicles the ways individuals and groups have resisted and overcome discrimination through that same time period. Janice organized the exhibit thematically to highlight the “tools of discrimination” that have been used over and over against different groups of people over time, as well as the “tools of resistance” that have countered oppression and discrimination. This exhibit uses photographs, documents, quotes, and ephemera to tell this complex history and the content is energized by the striking exhibit design of Bryan Potter Design.
